ISP Retiree Honored with Special Proclamation

(Fremont, IN)-Retired Indiana State Police Master Trooper Ronald G. Kane was honored today with a Proclamation issued to him by State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter for his many years of disseminating information to his community and beyond for the last 20 years.

Fort Wayne District Commander Lieutenant Tony Casto presented Kane with the proclamation at his rural Fremont residence in the presence of his wife, Linda and son Kevin.  The proclamation reads in part “Whereas, after his retirement, Master Trooper Ronald G. Kane continued to serve the dedicated men and women of law enforcement by being the driving force behind the North Region Communication Center; and whereas, the North Region Communication Center has been disseminating items of interest to the police community twice daily for more than 20 years”.  It concluded with the proclamation of “September 12, 2016 as Ronald G. Kane Day in the State of Indiana”.

Kane was appointed to the Indiana State Police as a dispatcher at the Peru Post on July 16, 1961.  He served in that position until he was accepted to the 19th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in early 1964.  On May 11, 1964, Kane was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the South Bend Sub-District of the former Dunes Park Post where he patrolled Marshall County.  Kane transferred to the former Redkey Post in 1970, patrolling Delaware County before transferring to the Toll Road Post in 1973 where he served until his retirement on September 25, 1987.

The North Region Communication Center kept law enforcement and the general public informed of news and other information pertinent to public safety, including historical information on the Indiana State Police.  Its last edition was shared on August 29, 2016.
