One Injured in Roll Over Crash
Richmond – Just before 8 p.m. this evening Pendleton District Sergeant David Whitinger responded to a call from the Richmond Police Department to assist in the investigation of a single vehicle roll over crash on the east side of Richmond. Sergeant Whitinger arrived at the scene to find a Jeep Wrangler on its side and the driver transported by ambulance to Reid Health Hospital in Richmond.
The preliminary investigation revealed that around 7:46 p.m., a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Mike Black, age 40 of Richmond, was east bound on So. “A” St. when Black attempted to turn south (right) onto So. 23rd St. As the Jeep turned it left the east side of So. 23rd St. striking a mail box and a stop sign.
After the Jeep left the east side of the roadway the driver over corrected, and the Jeep swerved across the road and off the west side of So.23rd, before swerving back across and off the east side of the road a second time striking a utility pole and rolling onto its side.
Black was transported from the scene with a head injury, cuts and abrasions, all believed to be non-life threatening. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Sergeant Whitinger was assisted at the scene by Trooper Bryan Rumple, the Richmond Police Department, and the Richmond Fire Department and EMS.
