On Friday September 16th at approximately 4:00 pm Montcalm County Sheriff Deputies were stationed in the Village of Edmore to assist with traffic control for the Montabella Home Coming parade. While getting into position, deputies were alerted to a possible drunk driver who was travelling westbound on M-46 from Vestaburg and now nearing the Edmore Village limits.
Deputies were able to locate and stop the suspected drunk driver as the vehicle entered Edmore. The driver, a 49 year old Saginaw man, told deputies he was travelling to Edmore to pick up his children for the week end. After investigation, the driver was arrested for felony drunk driving, driving on a revoked operator's license, having open alcohol in his vehicle, and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
The suspect was lodged in the Montcalm County Jail pending arraignment. The drivers blood alcohol level was recorded at over three times the legal limit.
