<p><strong>Kingman-</strong>On September 17, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post were sent to 4703 S. Silver Island Road near Kingman to speak to a female victim of a kidnapping and battery complaint.</p>
<p>Trooper Josh Edwards arrived with assistance from the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department and spoke to the victim. She alleged that Cody L. Demotte, 24 of Kingman had taken her unwillingly and battered her earlier that morning. Demotte had hit her several times in the upper body and attempted to hold her head under water.</p>
<p>Demotte was located and arrested with charges of Kidnapping, a Level 6 Felony, Criminal Confinement, a Level 5 Felony and Domestic Battery, a Level 6 Felony. He was remanded to the custody of the Fountain County jail. The investigation is continuing with possibility of further charges pending. No further will be released at this time.</p>
<p>Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.</p>
