Senior Trooper Detective Stephen Buckley is Promoted to Sergeant

<p>Lafayette- Monday afternoon Indiana State Police Superintendent, Doug Carter announced the promotion of Detective Stephen Buckley to the rank of Sergeant, to oversee the activities of the detectives at the Lafayette Post. Buckley, a 14 year member of the Indiana State Police, was chosen for his new position based upon a competitive selection process that included written testing, oral interview, seniority, education, and past job performance.<br />

Sergeant Buckley began his career with the Indiana State Police in 2001 after graduation from the Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the State Police Post at Lafayette where he was assigned White/Carroll Counties. As a trooper, he was a crash re-constructionist, Field Training Officer, a member of the “TIP” Team and an E.O.D. or bomb disposal team member. In 2007 he was laterally promoted to a detective where he specialized in crimes against children and was a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children “ ICAC” for the last two years.</p>
<p><br />
Sergeant Buckley, a native of Warren County, was a graduate of Seeger High School in 1994 and went on to Indiana State University and graduated in 1999 with degrees in Criminology and Psychology. In 2001, he was selected for the 62nd Indiana State Police Academy class and graduated in December. </p>

Sergeant Buckley has two children and lives in West Lafayette.</p>
