Clinton Man Indicted for 2nd Degree Sexual Assault
<p>Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Richard T. Tarcena, age 33, of Clinton, New Jersey. On September 23, 2016, Mr. Tarcena was indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury for Sexual Assault, a second degree crime.</p>
<p>According to Prosecutor Kearns, “A joint investigation conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Town of Clinton Police Department resulted in Mr. Tarcena’s arrest on September 7, 2016. The investigation revealed that Mr. Tarcena touched the intimate parts of the victim while the victim was less than 13 years old. Mr. Tarcena was also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a third degree crime.”</p>
<p>The Prosecutor added, “Crimes involving children are a serious offense, if found guilty the defendant can be sentenced to five to ten years in prison for the second degree charge. In addition, the defendant would be required to register as a convicted sex offender and be subject to parole supervision for life.”</p>
<p>The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.</p>
