Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY AND A FLASH FLOOD WATCH.

MAYOR AMATO WOULD LIKE TO ADVISE RESIDENTS THAT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY AND A FLASH FLOOD WATCH. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE COASTAL FLOOD WARNING ISSUED THIS MORNING.

THE WIND ADVISORY WILL BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH. THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

WINDS.
NORTHEAST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH SCATTERED GUSTS OF 45 TO 50 MPH. TIMING. IN PROGRESS WITH STRONGEST WIND GUSTS TONIGHT.

IMPACTS.
HEAVY RAINFALL ASSOCIATED WITH LOW PRESSURE WILL AFFECT THE AREA THROUGH FRIDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAINS WILL TAPER OFF AFTER DAYBREAK FRIDAY.

WIDESPREAD 2 TO 4 INCH RAIN TOTALS ARE POSSIBLE WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS AROUND 6 INCHES POSSIBLE NEAR THE COASTAL AREAS. THESE RAINFALL TOTALS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING FLOODING ACROSS THE WATCH AREA.

SMALL TREE LIMBS MAY BREAK CAUSING POWER OUTAGES. HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL BE SUBJECT TO UNEXPECTED AND UNCONTROLLED MOVEMENT IN STRONG GUSTS.

OUTLOOK.
NORTHEAST WINDS WILL DIMINISH FRIDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.
A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

LIGHT-WEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS SUCH AS PATIO FURNITURE AND GARBAGE CANS SHOULD BE SECURED.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

IN THE EVENT OF DOWNED UTILITY WIRES, YOU SHOULD IMMEDIATELY REPORT THEM TO JCP&L AT THE NUMBER ABOVE AND THE BERKELEY TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT AT 732-341 -6600.

RESIDENTS SHOULD NEVER GO NEAR A DOWNED POWER LINE, EVEN IF THEY THINK IT IS NO LONGER CARRYING ELECTRICITY.
