Attempting to Flee Trooper Lands Man in Jail on Numerous Charges
Clay County—Last night at 8:05, Indiana State Police Master Trooper Todd Brown attempted to stop a gray 1984 Yamaha motorcycle on eastbound US 40 near County Road 425 West for traveling 68 miles-per-hour in a 55mph zone. As Brown activated his emergency lighting, the motorcycle driver refused to stop and attempted to flee. Moments later, the cycle came to a stop on eastbound US 40 near CR 300 W due to mechanical issues. Master Trooper Brown quickly approached the driver and took him into custody.
Further investigation revealed the driver was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun, approximately 4.9 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 2 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The handgun was reported stolen out of Putnam County and the motorcycle had not been registered through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Arrested: Charles Allen Spiker, age 31, of Greencastle, IN.
Taken to Clay County Jail.
Charges: Possession of Handgun w/no permit (Misdemeanor)
Possession of Stolen Property (Felony)
Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony)
Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor)
Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
