Search continues for jail escapee
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said a search for an escaped inmate continues.
Joshua A. Musgrove (31) 5'7" 165lbs., hazel eyes and black hair; Musgrove was being held in the Scott County Jail on charges of assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
During his incarceration, Musgrove had been assigned to a work detail inside the jail; After a court appearance Thursday afternoon, Musgrove was returned to the work detail at which time he fled from the jail through a service gate that had inadvertently been left unsecured.
Walter said officers from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Scott City Police Department, Morley Police Department and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office assisted his office in the search which was scaled back about midnight.
Searching officers using a K9 were able to locate an article of jail clothing that Musgrove was wearing when he escaped; The article of clothing was located in the woods a short distance from the jail.
Sheriff Walter is asking that anyone with information about Musgrove's whereabouts please contact his office immediately; Musgrove should be considered dangerous.
