On Thursday, September 22, 2016, Corona Police officers responded to the 700 block of S. Main Street in Corona reference an assault between a male and a female. The female victim suffered fatal injuries in the attack. She has since been positively identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office as 60-year-old Lavern Davis. Officers arrested 54-year-old Steven Loia immediately following the attack. He is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside where he was booked for homicide and related offenses. Loia’s bail is set at $1,000,000.
