Santa Barbara Police Chief Lori Luhnow is pleased to announce three personnel promotions at the Santa Barbara Police Department that occurred on September 27, 2016.  Sergeant Dan McGrew was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant, and Detective Dan Tagles and Officer Rashun Drayton were promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant.

Lieutenant Dan McGrew is a 26-year veteran of the Santa Barbara Police Department.  Over the course of his career he has served as a Patrol Officer, Tactical Patrol Force Officer, Detective, Police Academy Tactical Officer, Detective Supervisor, SWAT Officer, and SWAT Supervisor.  He is a recipient of the Santa Barbara Citizens Council on Crime Award for Superior Performance.  In his new role he will be the Assistant Division Commander for the Investigative & Internal Operations Division.

Sergeant Dan Tagles is a 21-year veteran of the Santa Barbara Police Department.  Over the course of his career he has served as a Patrol Officer, Tactical Patrol Force Officer, Training & Recruitment Officer, K-9 Handler, and Detective.  He is also a recipient of the Santa Barbara Citizens Council on Crime Award for Superior Performance.  In his new role he will be a Patrol Supervisor in the Field Operations Division.

Sergeant Rashun Drayton is a 16-year veteran of the Santa Barbara Police Department.  Over the course of his career he has served as a Patrol Officer, Tactical Patrol Force Officer, Patrol Motorcycle Officer, Detective, and Field Training Officer.  Prior to joining SBPD he served in the United States Marine Corps.  He is a recipient of the H. Thomas Guerry Award for Valor.  In his new role he will be a Patrol Supervisor in the Field Operations Division.
