Driver of Stolen Motorcycle Remains at Large
Vigo County—This afternoon at 3:50, Indiana State Police Trooper Brad Miller was southbound on US 41 and noticed a black motorcycle disregard a stop sign westbound on Pimento Circle at US 41. The driver turned south on US 41 and when Trooper Miller approached the cycle with his ISP commission, the cycle driver moved onto the shoulder and appeared to initiate a stop; but instead, he veered right (west) into a cornfield and continued driving through the corn for approximately 40 yards. The driver then fled on foot westbound through the cornfield.
A perimeter was quickly established by multiple troopers, Vigo and Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies, and Jasonville PD officers. K9 officers from the ISP, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, and Jasonville PD were able to obtain “tracks” that led them west from the scene.
Based on the ‘tracks” officers searched wooded areas and several barns, outbuildings, and homes in the area south and southwest of Pimento to no avail. The search concluded at approximately 8:30 this evening.
The suspect was described as a white male, mid to late 30’s, facial hair around the chin area, brown hair, tattoo on his back, and no shirt.
The black 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle was not properly registered and was reported stolen on June 25, 2016 to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office.
Two citizens volunteered a drone and a civilian aircraft in the search.
Anyone who believes they have spotted the suspect should dial 911.
