CLINTON TOWNSHIP MAN ARRESTED WITH EXPLOSIVE DEVICES
<p>Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Clinton Township Police Lieutenant Doug Higgins announced the arrest of Jeffrey Werch.</p>
<p>According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On Tuesday, October 4, at approximately 5:45 pm, Clinton Township police officers and Detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Jeffrey Werch, age 34, of Clinton Township, following an investigation. During the search of the residence, officers located two (2) pipe bombs and hollow-point bullets. A Trooper from the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad responded along with a bomb-detection K-9 to assist. Mr. Werch was arrested and charged with Possession of a Destructive Device, Possession of an Explosive Device for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of Hollow-Point Bullets, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon. He was transported to the Somerset County Jail in default of $50,000 bail.</p>
<p>” The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.</p>
