On 10/08/16, at approximately 12:33 AM, the Chula Vista Police Department received a 911 call reporting a serious traffic accident.

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Street Racing Results in Fatality</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>On 10/08/16, at approximately 12:33 AM, the Chula Vista Police Department received a 911 call reporting a serious traffic accident near at the intersection of East H Street and Corral Canyon Road.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The investigation at the scene which included several witnesses, indicate two vehicles were street racing westbound on East H Street. &nbsp;&nbsp;Statements from multiple occupants inside one of the vehicles indicate both vehicles were driving at over 100 MPH.&nbsp; &nbsp;One of the racing vehicles failed to negotiate the slight curve in the roadway and spun out of control. &nbsp;That vehicle traveled over the center median squarely striking two mature Magnolia trees in the median.&nbsp; The vehicle broke the trees in half and continued into opposing lanes of traffic. After crossing all lanes of the opposing direction it came to rest on the sidewalk of eastbound East H Street.</p>

<p>The second vehicle engaged in the street racing immediately stopped to offer aid to those in the crashed vehicle.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Officers from CVPD as well as firefighters from CVFD arrived on scene and determined there had been three occupants in the crashed vehicle. Two did not require medical attention and the third, the rear passenger was treated by paramedics, however determined to be deceased at the scene.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The driver of the crashed vehicle was arrested at the scene for DUI, Street Racing and Manslaughter.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The driver of the second vehicle was arrested at the scene for DUI and Street racing.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be continuing to investigate this incident.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
