Town Access and Clean Up Operations
Visitor Access
As of 9:30 am, October 11 Dare County has lifted all restrictions for areas of Dare County north of Oregon Inlet. Restrictions remain in place for Hatteras Island.
Pumping Operations
The Town has begun pumping operations in the following areas:
Hallet St
Historic and Lindbergh Area
East Tateway near Poseidon and Goosander
Pumping will begin soon in the area of Lindbergh near Luke and Bennett streets. When pumping begins, NC HWY 12 will be closed between Luke and Bennett streets.
Please note that these locations may change as the water subsides and the pumps are moved to other areas in need.
NC HWY 12 remains closed between White Street and Starfish Lane
Please AVOID HWY NC 12 at East Kitty Hawk Road
Kitty Hawk Police have asked that visitors and residents avoid NC HWY 12 at East Kitty Hawk Road. NCDOT is on site and the area is a construction zone.
Trash Collection
Trash collection will resume it's normal schedule on Thursday, October 13th. If you are in an area where the road is closed, the trash vehicle will not make a pick-up. Please contact the Town's Public Works department at 252-261-1367 for assistance with trash collection.
Storm Vegetative Debris
Please begin to put storm related vegetative debris to the right of way as soon as possible. There will be a pick-up in the near future.
