<p>Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Kansas City man arrested on tampering with a motor vehicle and drug charges.</p>
<p>Patrick Jones (35) has been charged with the Class C Felony of Tampering With a Motor Vehicle, the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of a Controlled Substance. </p>
<p>Sheriff Walter states that on Saturday, October 15, 2016 deputies responded to a residence just outside of Benton for a suspicious male. The male was located by deputies, and it was determined that the male had been in possession of a stolen vehicle from Cape Girardeau. The stolen vehicle was located roadside on Interstate 55.</p>
<p>Located inside the stolen vehicle were two clear plastic baggies. One contained a white crystal substance, which field tested positive for cocaine. The other bag contained a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana.</p>
<p>The white crystal substance (cocaine) weighed over 9 grams.</p>
<p>Jones was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail. Jones remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $5,000 cash or surety.</p>
