Halloween Party, Verbal Altercation Leaves Coal City Man Dead; Indianapolis Woman Charged with Murder
Owen County – (Coal City) Just after midnight this past Saturday morning, Indiana State Police Detectives were called to the scene of a homicide near Coal City. Investigators believe that a guest at the home, Tammy Stuard, 52 of Indianapolis shot and killed Bradley Jones, 53 of Coal City at his home on Lampher Farm Road. Detectives gathered evidence that led them to believe a verbal argument had taken place prior to the shooting. According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, Stuard told detectives she shot Jones with her own handgun, because she believed he was going to attempt to hurt others in the home at that time.
ARRESTED - Tammy Lynn Stuard was formally charged with Murder earlier this afternoon in the Owen County Circuit Court in Spencer. There is no Felony Level for Murder in the State of Indiana. In Indiana, Murder is considered to be the highest felony with which one can be charged.
The Indiana State Police stresses the filing of criminal charges is only the beginning of the process and the Defendant is presumed innocent until guilt is proven in a court of law.
