Charleston man arrested in connection with string of residential burglaries

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said a Charleston man is in custody with charges related to multiple residential burglaries.

Larico D. Coleman (37) Charleston is charged with (6) counts of burglary, (8) counts of receiving stolen property, and (6) counts of property damage in the second degree.

Walter said his office had investigated multiple burglaries over the past two months which involved the thefts of flat screen television sets.

On Wednesday morning a burglary was reported at a residence on H highway near Miner. As the suspect vehicle fled from the scene of the burglary, the homeowner was able to obtain a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle. A short time later the suspect vehicle was located and stopped by an officer with the Charleston Department of Public Safety. Larico Coleman was the driver of the suspect vehicle. Items of stolen property from the H highway burglary were located in Coleman’s vehicle.

Walter said Coleman was transferred back to Scott County where he cooperated with investigators and they were able to clear 6 residential burglaries. Walter said some of the stolen property from the burglaries was recovered but the majority of the property had already been sold out of the area.

Walter said Coleman admitted to burglaries in Mississippi and New Madrid Counties and was currently working with authorities to clear those burglaries.

Coleman is currently in custody on a $50,000 bond with holds from Charleston and New Madrid County.
