<p><strong>WHERE:&nbsp;&nbsp;City of San Luis Obispo</strong></p>

<p><strong>WHEN:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;October 27th &ndash; November 1st, 2016</strong></p>

<p><strong>Halloween is a celebrated event in our community often associated with nuisance crimes, noise and alcohol related activity in the neighborhoods and downtown area.&nbsp; Historically the police department has experienced an increase in calls for service and response to these adverse party related behaviors. As such the City Council declared by ordinance that the Safety Enhancement Zone be in effect citywide during Halloween.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The police department will dedicate a maximum deployment of officers to cover the entire weekend leading up to and including, Halloween Day. The Safety Enhancement Zone period will extend from Monday, October 31st at 12:01 a.m. to Tuesday, November 1st at 7:00 a.m.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The safety enhancement period designates specific violations of the San Luis Obispo City Municipal Code as &ldquo;double fines&rdquo; which can be written by both City police and Cal Poly PD Officers. These violations include:</strong></p>

<li><strong>Noise Disturbance</strong></li>
<li><strong>Urinating in Public</strong></li>
<li><strong>Open Container</strong></li>
<li><strong>Dangerous and Deadly Weapon</strong></li>
<li><strong>Social Host </strong></li>
<li><strong>Unruly Gathering</strong></li>
</ul>

<p><strong>The San Luis Obispo Police Department, in collaboration with the Cal Poly Police Department, will embark on a low tolerance philosophy during this time period as we confront these adverse behaviors that impact our community.&nbsp;</strong></p>
