On 10-22-16 at approximately 2:34 a.m. a male subject was spotted on a resident’s surveillance camera lurking by the front door of the residence. In the video the suspect was checking the door handle and acting in a suspicious manner. The suspect was wearing gloves, a light colored shirt and a baseball cap. At one point the suspect noticed the video surveillance system and wiped away debris from the camera. Shortly after, the suspect then departed the area. The event was reported to the Police Department early the next day after the resident viewed the video and the suspicious activity by the suspect.
During the investigation the San Luis Obispo Police Department received several leads as to the identity of the suspect. On 10-25-16 investigators from SLOPD contacted Michael Dean Sutton of San Luis Obispo in regards to the incident. After interviewing the suspect, it was determined that he was the person in the video and S/ Sutton was arrested and booked on charges of Attempted Burglary 664/459 PC at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
