Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and West Amwell Township Police Captain Stephen Bartzak announced that an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Forensic Analysis Collision Team (F.A.C.T.) and the West Amwell Township Police Department is underway at 54 Wilson Road in West Amwell Township.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On October 28th at approximately 10:40am, a truck driver, Walter DeGroff, age 47, of West Berlin, NJ, was killed when his dump truck rolled over him in a work zone on private property in West Amwell Township. The investigation revealed that the truck began to roll down a hill through a field and Mr. DeGroff ran after it in an attempt to catch it and stop it. He slipped and the truck ran him over. Our sympathies are with his family.”
The truck and property owner is Joseph Jingoli and Sons, Inc. The investigation is still underway.
