Six New Troopers at Lowell Post
Lowell-Six new troopers reported for duty yesterday at the Lowell Post. They were six of 55 new troopers reporting to their districts of assignment following graduation from the 76th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy, which took place on Thursday, October 20th.
The probationary troopers completed 22 weeks of intense training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. During the training period, the recruits received in excess of 950 hours of law enforcement training which included criminal law, emergency vehicle operations, traffic law as well as training in other facets of law enforcement including criminal investigation, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder, and other general law enforcement related areas of instruction.
The newest members of the Lowell State Police Post are:
- Regen Smith, 23 from Cedar Lake, she graduated from Hanover Central High School, received a Bachelor of Science Degree from University Of Southern Indiana (Evansville).
- Alissa Partyka, 22 from Crown Point. She graduated from Crown Point High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forensic and Investigative Science and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology for IUPUI in Indianapolis.
- Nicole Maenza, 23 from Aurora, Illinois, she graduated from West Aurora High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Criminology with a minor in Social Work from Valparaiso University. She is an active member (four years) with the Indiana National Guard as a 2nd Lieutenant Platoon Leader for the 1638 Transportation Company out of Remington, Indiana.
- Eric Mandry Junior, 21 from Gary, he graduated from Chesterton High School. He is attending Indiana University Northwest to attain his degree in Criminal Justice.
- John Landowski, 26 of Justice, Illinois, he graduated from Argo High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Westwood College.
- Thomas Maymi, 32 of McAllen, Teas, he graduated from Jay County High School. He attended Maryland University and Central Texas College and hopes to receive a degree in Home land Security. Maymi also spent six years in the Army as an Infantry Airborne Sergeant.
The six new troopers will put their recruit academy training to work in the field as they begin 12 weeks of field training, where they will be paired with experienced troopers specially trained to serve as Field Training Officers. Upon successful completion of the field training program, they will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol responsibilities, patrolling La Porte, Lake, Porter, Jasper, Newton, Pulaski and Starke Counties.
