Attempted Robbery at Well's Fargo bank in Sebastopol last night about 5pm - suspect being sought.
On Monday, October 31st, 2016, just after 5:00 PM, Sebastopol Police Department received a phone call from the Wells Fargo Alarm Company reporting an attempted bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 7151 Bodega Avenue. An unidentified male suspect approached a teller and asked for all the fifty and one hundred dollar bills. When the teller refused, the suspect left the bank toward High Street and fled south, on foot.
The suspect was described as a white male adult, possibly in his early twenties, wearing a black beanie cap, dark sun glasses, and a fake nose. The suspect was also described as having facial acne. Additionally, the suspect was described as wearing a grey suit coat with a black shirt underneath, light colored dirty jeans, and black boots. Wells Fargo Bank reported that the suspect did not display a weapon, but had his hands in his coat pockets.
Sebastopol Police Officers arrived on scene moments after the report of the robbery was received by dispatch. The Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect. The Sebastopol Police Department notified surrounding allied agencies of the attempted robbery and have been in contact with the FBI, as is standard protocol in bank robberies.
