Four New Troopers Arrive at the ISP Post at Lafayette
Lafayette-Four new troopers reported for duty Monday at the Lafayette Post. They were four of fifty-five new troopers reporting to their districts of assignment following graduation from the 76th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy, which took place on Thursday, October 20th.
The probationary troopers completed 22 weeks of intense training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. During the training period, the recruits received in excess of 950 hours of law enforcement training which included criminal law, emergency vehicle operations, traffic law as well as training in other facets of law enforcement including criminal investigation, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder and other general law enforcement related areas of instruction.
The newest members of the Lafayette State Police Post are:
Trooper Douglas W. Feazel is a 2005 graduate of Seeger Memorial Jr/Sr High School. He spent 12 years in the Indiana Army National Guard and lives in Fountain County with his family.
Trooper Devin Farmer is a 2014 graduate Grace Christian School in Columbus, GA and then went on to graduate from Georgia Military Collage with a degree in Homeland Security in 2015. He has been with the Indiana National Guard for three years and resides in Tippecanoe County with his family.
Trooper Kyle Killin is a 2005 graduate of Seeger Memorial Jr/Sr High School. He continued his education at Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice and then on to Purdue and studied Law and Society. He has served in the US Air Force and resides in Tippecanoe County.
Trooper Matthew Clemans is a 2011 graduate of North Newton Jr/Sr High School and continued his education studying three years at Indiana State University. He has spent four years in the Army National Guard and resides in Tippecanoe County with his family.
The new troopers will put their recruit academy training to work in the field as they begin 12 weeks of field training, where they will be paired with experienced troopers specially trained to serve as Field Training Officers. Upon successful completion of the field training program, they will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol where they are assigned the south zone which includes Fountain, Montgomery, Warren and Benton Counties.
