Attempt to Evade Ends in an Arrest
On November 2nd at 3:30 pm a Morgan Hill Officer located a stolen vehicle driving east on Tennant Ave. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating his emergency lights and siren. The driver of the vehicle disregarded the order to stop and fled. The driver of the vehicle led the officer through Morgan Hill and into San Martin. The officer eventually terminated the pursuit because the suspect drove into on-coming traffic causing vehicles to pull over in order to avoid a collision. Shortly after terminating the pursuit the stolen vehicle was located stuck in a field on the 13000 block of Columbet Ave by an officer. The Morgan Hill K-9 officer and his partner were called in and responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Officers canvassed the area and were able to track the suspects foot prints in the muddy field to a property located on 13000 block of Mammini Ct. in San Martin. Suspect Daniel Cruz 31 out of San Jose was located hiding and taken into custody without incident. A records check revealed suspect Cruz was warranted for stealing a vehicle out of Santa Cruz. Suspect Cruz was eventually booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on the felony warrant, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police, possession of burglary tools, being under the influence of a control substance and possession of narcotics.
