Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Over a Pound and a Half of Marijuana
Dubois County: A traffic stop this afternoon led to the arrest of two California natives and the seizure of a significant quantity of marijuana.
At 1:00 P.M. this afternoon, Master Trooper Brian LaRoche pulled over a 2007 Toyota for speeding along Interstate 64 near the Ferdinand exit. While conducting the traffic stop, Trooper LaRoche smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, giving him probable cause to conduct a vehicle search. While searching the vehicle, Trooper LaRoche found a bag containing 1.7 pounds (771 grams) of marijuana.
Both the driver, 20 year old Jocelyn Sanchez of Placentia, CA, and the passenger, 21 year old Edwin Echeverria-Barajas of Anaheim, CA, were placed into custody without incident and transported to the Dubois County Security Center. Trooper LaRoche was assisted by the Ferdinand Police Department.
