The Covina Police Department will be participating in "No Shave November" to help promote cancer awareness.
The World Health Organization reports that cancer affects everyone, men, women and children alike, and is one of the leading causes of death throughout the world. In an effort to help raise awareness of cancer, November has been designated as Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation and many others, use these opportunities to raise awareness of cancer related illnesses.
As part of the cancer awareness campaign, the Covina Police Department, along with many other law enforcement agencies throughout the nation, will participate in “No-Shave November”. Throughout the month of November, the Department will relax its grooming policies and will allow all of its employees to forgo shaving to help bring attention to cancer awareness.
Our uniformed personnel are highly visible, interactive members in the community who are typically clean shaven and neatly groomed. It is our hope that our involvement in this “No Shave November” Campaign will help evoke a conversation with our community members and help bring cancer awareness to the forefront.
