Traffic Stop For Speeding Ends With Felony Arrest
New Castle – Last night a traffic stop for 70 in a 55 ended with the driver going to jail for a felony warrant and other charges. A little after 7 p.m. last evening Trooper Earnest Paige was on SR3 near CR 500 South when he clocked a north bound white passenger car at 70 M.P.H. in a 55 M.P.H. zone.
Paige got the car stopped in the area of SR3 and CR 400 South. The driver gave Paige an incorrect name and date of birth, but with further investigation it was determined the driver’s real name was Tyler Hammond, age 30 of New Castle. It was found that Hammond was wanted on a felony warrant out of Henry County for Possession of Methamphetamine, was in Possession of Hypodermic Syringes and was also driving while suspended with a prior conviction.
Hammond was lodged in the Henry County Jail and charged with Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony, Warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony, Driving while Suspended with a Prior Conviction and False Informing. Trooper Paige was assisted at the scene by the New Castle Police Department..
