Los Angeles: Two separate and unrelated hit and run traffic collisions occurred within a 24 hour period in nearly the same area leaving two pedestrians in serious condition.  The first collision happened on Alvarado Street just north of 3^rd Street on November 14, 2016 at approximately 10:30 p.m.  The victim, a 53 year old male, was struck while standing in the roadway on Alvarado Street by a possible mid 2000’s Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Alvarado Street. The victim was then dragged for approximately ¼ mile until the body was dislodged near the intersection of Grand View Street and Miramar Street.   The driver continued without stopping to identify himself or rendering aid, a violation of 20001(A) VC, hit and run. The victim was taken to LAC+USC Medical Center by paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department.  He is listed in critical condition.
 
The second collision occurred in the same area of Alvarado Street north of 3^rd Street on November 15, 2016 at approximately 9:15 a.m.  The victim, a 58 year old female, was possibly attempting to enter her parked car when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street.  The victim suffered severe head trauma and was taken to LAC+USC Medical Center by paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department.  She is listed in critical condition. 
 
The driver also fled the scene without stopping to identify himself or rendering aid in violation of 20001(A) VC, hit and run. Fortunately, a witness saw the collision and followed the suspect to his residence.  The witness alerted police who responded to the location and took the driver into custody.  The driver, Jonathon Chung, 29 years old, was booked at Metropolitan Detention Center on the related hit and run charge.
