Bank Accounts & Credit Reports
This is a reminder to all residents of the importance of monitoring their bank accounts and credit reports for fraudulent activity.
Yesterday, a Spring Hill Acres resident reported that between November 9th-14th, his Santander bank account was accessed resulting in $18,043.79 in unauthorized charge card purchases, ATM withdrawals, and on-line transfers of funds. He only became aware of the fraudulent activity when he attempted to use his credit card and it was declined.
Residents are encouraged to monitor their bank account/credit card activity, along with obtaining a copy of their credit report. You have the right to obtain a free copy of your credit report every 12 months from each of the three credit reporting companies, Examining your credit report may be the first indication that someone misused your information. It is important to check your credit report a few times a year. You can order one free report every four months from one of the three companies.
You can get your free credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com or by calling 1-877-322-8228.
