At this time Polk County Emergency Management has advised that the fire is considered to be contained. There will continue to be a fire service presence in the area throughout the night maintaining the perimeter of the fire and putting out "hot spots". Residents may return to their homes, but should remain vigilant in looking out for any possible flare ups or rekindles. Large amounts of smoke are to be expected in the area throughout the evening and into the night. Unnecessary travel in the are should be avoided.

Please be advised at this time:
Emergency crews are in Columbus near the Morgan Chapel Village and Tryon Estate area combating a woods/ brush fire.
Residents in the Morgan Chapel Village area are asked to evacuate to the Red Cross in Columbus while the situation is gotten under control by Fire personnel.
Residents of Polk County are asked to use Caution when driving in this area.
Fire crews have advised the fire situation is being contained and suppression efforts will continue into the evening.
