Black Road and West Main Vehicle Accident

At approximately 5:00 P.M. Santa Maria Fire Department personnel responded to a reported head on vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival Santa Maria Fire Personnel found two patients, and two vehicles with various levels of damage. Firefighters and EMS personnel provided care, extensive extrication, and transport to both patients. Extrication of the patient took approximately 25 minutes. One patient was taken by helicopter to Cottage Hospital for major injuries, while the other was taken by ground ambulance to Marian Hospital. One Aerial Truck Company, one Battalion Chief, one Urban Search and Rescue Unit, one Santa Barbara county Medic Engine Company, two AMR ambulances, one Paramedic Supervisor, and one CalStar Helicopter responded to the incident. The California Highway Patrol provided investigation and traffic control at the scene.
