Sobriety Checkpoint in Tippecanoe County
Tippecanoe County-The Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Tippecanoe County. It will occur during the late evening hours of Wednesday November 23, 2016. Drivers should have their operator’s license and vehicle registrations available for a quick review. Passing through the checkpoint should only take two to three minutes. After the checkpoint, troopers will be using roving patrols to actively look for impaired drivers.
To ensure traffic safety on our roadways, the Indiana State Police offer the following safety tips:
• Do not drink and drive
• Use a designated driver
• If hosting a party or large gathering, offer non-alcoholic beverages and ensure a safe ride home for those who have consumed alcohol
• Friends don’t let friends drive impaired
• If you suspect a drunk driver, dial 911 and give location, vehicle description, plate information and number of occupants if able
• Do not follow a drunk driver
The Indiana State Police will routinely use saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints to ensure traffic safety and combat impaired driving.
