HPD is currently investigating the suspected homicide of a 4-year old female. The suspect is currently in custody. 
On Sunday, November 20, 2016 at approximately 2030 hours, a male was heard yelling for the police in the back lot of the police department. Officers responding to the location, found a male adult holding an unresponsive four year old female. Officers called for medical assistance and began CPR. The female juvenile was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The male, identified as Gerardo Mendoza Ordaz (42 years old from Healdsburg), was the father of the girl. Officers learned that Ordaz was with his daughter and another child at St. John’s Church just prior. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death; however, it is believed that the female drowned.
Ordaz was later arrested and booked at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of homicide.
