Don’t pour your Thanksgiving grease down the drain! Grease clogs your pipes and can even cause sewer backups. Protect your home, city, and environment by recycling it during this regional collection event!

This collection is for cooking oil and grease only. Motor oil and other automotive fluids are not accepted. See the other side for instructions on how to transport your cooking oil and grease.

What Happens to the Grease?
The City of Red Oak is donating all the used cooking oil and grease from its Holiday Grease Round-up collection to the Dallas County Schools Alternative Fuel Program to be processed into biodiesel for school buses.

Grease hardens in the pipes, causing major clogs and sewer overfl¬ows.

If the sewer overfl¬ows, city crews have to shut down streets, tying up traffic and increasing expenses for you and the city.

Don’t pour grease down the drain. Pour it into a covered container, like an old coffee can, and recycle it at a drop-off location listed on the other side.

Don’t pour cooking oil down the drain. After you deep-fry food, cool the used oil. Put it into a rigid plastic container with a screw-top lid (maybe even the container the oil came in), and recycle it at a drop-off location listed on the other side.
