Extra Troopers Patrolling the Roadways for Thanksgiving Weekend
It’s that time of year again where millions of Americans will be hitting the roadways to travel for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Indiana State Police and other law enforcement agencies will provide extra manpower and patrols to Indiana roadways this weekend and throughout the holiday season.
Indiana State Police troopers will be actively looking for those motorists who exhibit unsafe driving behaviors that may be dangerous to other motorists. Some of those behaviors include distracted driving, following too closely, making unsafe lane movements, speeding, operating while intoxicated, and seatbelt violations. In addition to mobile patrols, troopers will also participate in checkpoints to pursue those who may be operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The Indiana State Police encourages motorists who observe erratic driving to call 9-1-1 and report the unsafe driving behavior to their local law enforcement agency.
The Indiana State Police offers additional advice to those Hoosiers that choose to travel this holiday weekend.
*Don’t Drive Distracted
*Leave Yourself Plenty of Time and Be Patient
*Don’t Drive After Consuming Alcoholic Beverages
*Buckle Up
*Carry Necessary Supplies with You in Case of Emergency
AAA estimates that nearly 50 million Americans are expected to be traveling at least 50 miles from home this weekend. Do your part to ensure this is a safe an enjoyable weekend for all Hoosiers.
