24 year old Albion resident is in serious condition at a Kalamazoo Hospital after being assaulted Wednesday afternoon inside a home.
On Wednesday 11/23/16 at 2:20 PM Albion Public Safety Officers responded to the 200 block of E. Erie St. for a reported drug overdose. Upon arrival officers found a 24 year old male, Albion resident, unresponsive and assisted Albion Community Ambulance in transporting him to Oaklawn Hospital. Upon arrival at Oaklawn Hospital doctors quickly determined the victim had a severe closed head injury that appeared to be from an assault and transferred him to a hospital in Kalamazoo for emergency surgery. ADPS detectives responded to the scene of the incident where evidence of an assault was discovered inside a home in the 200 block of E. Erie St. and a 28 year old male, Albion resident was taken into custody. Along with evidence of the assault, ADPS detectives also located suspected cocaine in the residence. The victim of the assault underwent emergency surgery and is listed in extreme critical condition at this time. The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail pending charges from the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s office.
