Speeding Driver in a Work Zone Arrested for More Than Reckless Driving when Drugs Found
Noblesville, IN - This afternoon, while patrolling the southbound I-69 construction zone near exit 210, Master Trooper Troy Sunier stopped a vehicle for very excessive speed. 21 year old Zachary Anderson of Muncie was allegedly driving 90 miles per hour in a posted 60 miles per hour work zone, with workers present in the immediate area of the offense. The vehicle also had expired license plates, expired since January of 2016. During the stop, Sunier detected what he believed to be the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed nearly 70 grams of marijuana, as well as scales and other drug paraphernalia.
Anderson was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail without incident. Official charges will be determined by the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office, however he was arrested on probable cause of:
- Reckless Driving in a Work Zone with Workers Present
- Possession of Marijuana
- Dealing Marijuana
- Reckless Possession of Parapheralia
- Driving with Expired Plates
