Attempted Traffic Stop Leads Trooper on Vehicle, Foot Pursuit
 
Indianapolis, IN- An Indiana State trooper was lead on a brief vehicle and foot pursuit this morning by a man wanted on several warrants.
 
This morning at approximately 7:30 a.m., Trooper Justin Hobbs attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on East Street NB at Thompson Road. Trooper Hobbs had determined that the license plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen. When Trooper Hobbs activated his emergency lights and siren the driver failed to stop and attempted to evade police by speeding north on East Street.
 
Trooper Hobbs recognized that the driver was driving recklessly and using no due regard for other rush hour traffic conditions and disregarded the vehicle pursuit and shut off his emergency lighting. As Trooper Hobbs was waiting to turn around SB on East Street he observed the Monte Carlo crash with other vehicles at East Street and Hanna Avenue. The driver of the Monte Carlo ran from the vehicle with a driver from one of the vehicles involved in the crash in foot pursuit. Trooper Hobbs joined the foot pursuit and found the suspect behind a Speedway gas station just west of the intersection. The suspect failed to submit to verbal commands and was taken into custody with the use of a Taser.
 
One female driver involved in the crash with the suspect was transported to Community South Hospital for complaint of dizziness. She was treated and released. No further persons involved in the crash was injured.
 
The suspect, identified as Bradley G. Criswell, 30, of Mooresville, IN, was transported to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment of complaint of pain to his knee.
 
Criswell will be treated at Eskenazi Hospital and when released, transported to the Marion County Arrestee processing Center.
 
Criswell’s driver’s license status returned as habitual traffic violator for life and he has outstanding Marion County warrants for carrying a handgun with a prior conviction, habitual traffic violator for life and possession of a syringe. Criswell also faces possible further charges from today’s actions of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement on foot, operating a vehicle after being found to be a habitual traffic violator for life, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, vehicle theft, criminal recklessness and reckless driving.
 
The case will be screened by the Marion county Prosecutors Office for official charging information.
 
No mug shot is available at this time as Criswell has not been transported to APC.
