Apparent Disabled Vehicle Struck on I-465; One Person Killed

Indianapolis, IN- An apparent disabled vehicle struck on I-465 NB at the 21.6nmm has resulted in the death of one person and another being transported in serious or critical condition.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. this afternoon, Indiana State troopers were called to a serious personal injury crash on I-465 NB at the 21.6 mm. This is the 71st Street exit.

Two vehicles were involved in this crash. The striking vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Camry, was being driven by Oluwasen O. Oladele, 32, of Indianapolis. The second vehicle was a 2013 Ford Escape that was pulling a small box style U-Haul trailer loaded with personal belongings.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Ford escape was in the left emergency lane of NB I-465, apparently disabled. Indications are that the driver, Fambridge Conway, 40, of Indianapolis and Malcom Conway, 13, believed to have been a passenger of the Ford Escape were outside the vehicle when it was struck. It has yet to be determined if the Ford Escape was completely in the emergency lane or partially in the travel portion of I-465NB.

For reasons that have yet been determined the driver of the Toyota, Oladele, struck the U-Haul trailer in the rear, which was then pushed into the rear of the Ford Escape, causing significate damage to both vehicles and the U-Haul trailer.

Fambridge Conway was trapped underneath the Toyota. She was extricated by emergency personnel and transported to St. Vincent Hospital in serious or critical condition.  Malcom Conway was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Pursuant to Indiana law involving a fatal crash, Oladele submitted to a mandatory blood draw. Investigators did not observe any indications of impairment.

No witnesses have come forward that may have observed this crash. State Police investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this crash to contact the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post at 317-899-8577 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. (8477)
