FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF LOWELL BADGER DEATH
Sullivan County—December 8, 2016 will mark the four year anniversary of the unsolved homicide of 85-year-old Lowell R. Badger of rural Sullivan County. The retired farmer was found deceased from a gunshot wound on the floor of his bedroom at his rural Sullivan County home at 10447 West County Road 350 North. The homicide is believed to have occurred sometime between Friday, December 7th 8:00 p.m. and 9:23 a.m. on Saturday, December 8th, 2012.
Since Mr. Badger’s death in 2012, Indiana State Police and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office have been vigorously working the case. Detectives have investigated over one-hundred tips, conducted nearly one-hundred interviews, and combed many areas of land in the Sullivan County area. Throughout this investigation and as recently as late November of this year, ISP divers from the Central and South teams have searched various bodies of water in and around Sullivan County, including locations on the Wabash River, looking for any evidence in this case, as well as the items taken from the home. No items related to the Badger case were found during any of the searches.
Taken from the home were Lowell’s safe, a light to medium dark gray, measuring 23 1/2 tall, 17” depth, and
17 “wide, in pristine condition and manufactured by John D. Brush and Company. Also taken was his black 46” Sony Bravia LCD television.
“Currently tips are coming into law enforcement and are being investigated. We believe someone in the community may have more information on this case and we hope they have the courage to provide it to us”, stated lead ISP Detective Angie Hahn.
Law enforcement and the Badger family continue to solicit help from the public. Anyone with information is strongly urged to call Indiana State Police Detective Angie Hahn or ISP Detective First Sergeant Jason Fajt at the Putnamville Post (765)-653-4114 or Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom at 812-268-4044. This is a very active investigation and all tips will be investigated. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
A reward of $30,000 has been established and available for person (s) who provide information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for Lowell’s death.
Please direct media inquiries to ISP PIO Sergeant Joe Watts.
