Anderson P.D. Recovers Stolen Vehicle after Pursuit
On Thursday, December 2nd 2016, at about 9:38 P.M., an Anderson Police Officer observed a silver 1999 Honda Civic traveling southbound on I-5 from Balls Ferry Rd. The Officer conducted a records check on the vehicle and found the vehicle’s license plates to be reported stolen.
The Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver failed to yield. A pursuit ensued traveling southbound on I-5 at speeds of about 80 MPH. At one point the driver pulled towards the right shoulder, but then pulled back into traffic and continued southbound. The driver finally yielded in the area of southbound I-5 on Cottonwood Hill.
A high risk car stop was conducted and the driver complied with the Officer’s orders. The driver was found to be Ronald Jess LOWE, age 23, of Redding. A records check revealed LOWE to be on felony probation out of Shasta County for vandalism.
Officers conducted a records check on the vehicle and found the vehicle to be reported stolen out of the Chico Police Department.
LOWE was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a valid driver’s license, and a felony violation of probation. LOWE was booked into the Shasta County Jail on the above charges.
