Hit-and-Run Collision Leaves Pedestrian with Life Threatening Injuries, SBPD Requesting Public’s Help
Santa Barbara Police Department Traffic Collision Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance with a felony hit-and-run investigation.
On December 2, 2016 at 4:15 a.m., officers from the Santa Barbara Police Department responded to a report of a subject down in the street on the 300 block of W. Cabrillo Boulevard. Upon arrival they located an unresponsive adult male face down on the roadway. The man was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he is being treated for life threatening injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Evidence suggests that the man was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on the 300 block of W. Cabrillo Boulevard. The vehicle fled the scene.
During the investigation officers located surveillance videos of a possible involved vehicle that was seen traveling in the area at the time of the collision. This vehicle of interest is described as a light colored small to mid-size sport utility vehicle. It is believed to have front-end, headlamp, and possible windshield damage.
