Hit-and-Run Collision Arrest, SBPD Requesting Public’s Help in Ongoing Investigation

SANTA BARBARA, CA – December 8, 2016

Investigation into the December 2, 2016 hit-and-run traffic collision that left Drew Christopher Daly, age 23, of Santa Barbara, with life threatening injures has resulted in the arrest of Isaac Vincent Vega, age 21, of Montecito, for the following offenses: hit-and-run causing injury, commission of a felony while released from custody, unlicensed driver, and false information to a peace officer.  At the time he committed the hit-and-run Vega was out of custody, on bail, for a previous robbery arrest.

Investigation revealed that on December 2, 2016 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Vega was driving a white 1999 Honda CRV westbound on the 300 block of W. Cabrillo Boulevard.  Vega struck Daly, who was crossing the street southbound, and then fled the scene.  Investigation indicates that Daly remained on the side of the street, gravely injured, for approximately two hours before being discovered by a passer-by.

The public’s assistance has been instrumental in this case, enabling SBPD investigators to identify Vega and ultimately arrest him at 5:00 p.m. on December 7, 2016 on the 100 block of Harbor Way.  The involved vehicle was located at Vega’s residence and impounded.  Vega was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the aforementioned charges with a bail amount of $75,000.00.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation additional details are being withheld.  However, the community’s assistance is still being requested.  Anyone with knowledge of Vega’s activities in the hours before and the morning after the collision is asked to contact SBPD Traffic Investigators at (805) 897-2322.
