TONIGHT: Charter Oak School District will host first Holiday Parade & Fireworks Show, December 9, 2016 Covina area
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will partner with Charter Oak Unified School District and Covina Police Department to assist in the first ever Charter Oak Holiday Parade in the Covina area.
Join us as the students, schools, and community come together to celebrate the holidays in Charter Oak. Come out and watch our festivities along the parade route in the heart of Charter Oak, beginning and ending at Charter Oak High School with fireworks and food trucks featured at the end of the event!
Friday, December 9, 2016 - 6:00 p.m. parade, 7:00 p.m. holiday festival with food trucks, 8:30 p.m. fireworks.
The parade route will start on Covina Boulevard at Charter Oak High School and Charter Oak Park, head north on Mangrove, east on Cienega, south on Bonnie Cove and west on Covina Boulevard, ending at Charter Oak Park. A holiday festival will follow at the Charter Oak High School Stadium featuring vendors, crafts, food trucks, and culminating with a firework display at the Charter Oak High School Stadium.
We invite you to secure your spot along the parade route, then head over to the Charter Oak High School Stadium to set your chairs and blankets on the field for the firework show.
There will be 62 different entries representing everything from the arts, academics, athletics and everything in between as the students, schools, and community of Charter Oak come together to celebrate the holidays!
Los Angeles County Supervisor-Elect Kathryn Barger said she is honored to participate in the inaugural Charter Oak Holiday Parade, “Charter Oak is an exemplary school district with many wonderful programs that I am excited to see featured in the parade. Excellence in education is evidenced by the support and participation of the staff, students and community throughout Charter Oak Unified." Dr. Hendricks, District Superintendent, is happy to see the excitement, and even some competition, among the school sites. “We have over 60 participants in our parade and some of the plans for the entries are being kept top secret. It will be great fun to see the results of everyone coming together to support our school district.”
This exciting event will result in some restricted parking and road closures along the parade route. We are doing our best to limit the inconvenience to neighbors in providing as much notice as possible, structuring the parade as a ‘rolling closure,’ meaning the street will open as the last entry passes by. Charter Oak Unified School District appreciates your support and we hope you will join us in this Charter Oak celebration.
