Woman Thanks Chula Vista Officers For Saving Her Life

19 days ago Anna Krone nearly lost her life when a suspected drunk driver struck her as she stood outside her Chula Vista home. Anna lost both legs from the accident but credits two Chula Vista Police Officers with saving her life. She said that in addition to the life-saving application of tourniquets to both legs to prevent her from bleeding to death, the Officers held her hand and comforted her until Fire and Paramedics arrived.

Yesterday, 12/8/19, Anna called the Chula Vista Police Department to thank the “heroes” who saved her life. She wanted to recognize them in person for their outstanding work that night.

Today, Officer Curtis Chancellor and Officer Casey Rose met with Anna at her care facility. They presented her with flowers and a $250 gift certificate donated by the Hotel Del Coronado, (dining someday at the hotel is on her to-do list in life). She enthusiastically hugged and thanked both of them as family and loved ones surrounded her.

Both Officers were humbled by Anna's positive spirit and infectious optimism. They credited their training and the Chula Vista Police Department's recent introduction of tourniquets for all field units for saving Anna's life. They pointed out they weren't alone and gave credit to other officers and to Fire and Paramedics who arrived within minutes and who perform such life-saving acts every day.
