THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM EST /8 PM CST/ THIS EVENING TO 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ MONDAY.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
* AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW WILL IMPACT THE ADVISORY AREA STARTING THIS EVENING AND CONTINUING INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS CURRENTLY EXPECTED NORTH OF ROUTE 6 WHERE 6 TO 9 INCHES OF SNOW MAY FALL OVER A ROUGHLY 36 HOUR PERIOD.
* LOCATIONS SOUTH OF ROUTE 6 MAY SEE LESSER AMOUNTS AS TEMPERATURES WARM TO NEAR OR JUST ABOVE FREEZING...ALLOWING FOR SOME MELTING OF THE SNOW AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL OF RAIN MIXING AT TIMES. GENERALLY 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN ROUTE 30 AND ROUTE 6.

* THE SNOW WILL CAUSE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS ON UNTREATED ROADS TONIGHT INTO AT LEAST THE FIRST PART OF SUNDAY ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. CONDITIONS MAY IMPROVE SOMEWHAT SOUTH OF ROUTE 6 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
