Collaboration with Tri-County Produce, Hazard’s Cyclesport, SB Bicycle Coalition & PetSmart Helps Families in Need

SANTA BARBARA, CA – December 15, 2016

Thanks to the efforts of Santa Barbara Police Department Beat Coordinator Officer Craig Burleigh and several of our partners in the community, SBPD personnel will be distributing gifts of bicycles, helmets, and stuffed animals to families in need that they encounter this holiday season.

This project started with the donation of eleven bicycles to the Police Department by John Dixon of Tri-County Produce.  Bruce Davis and the staff at Hazard’s Cyclesport then assembled and safety checked all of the bikes.  The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition provided helmets to accompany each bike and Santa Barbara PetSmart gave large stuffed animals to top off each gift package.  Officer Craig Burleigh organized the endeavor.

In the course of their duties SBPD personnel often encounter families with children that have endured hardship, tragedy, or been the victims of crime.  Now, eleven deserving children in our community will be receiving bicycles, helmets, and stuffed animals as gifts this holiday season thanks to this collaborative effort.
