Indianapolis Attorney, Special Needs Trust Fund Trustee Arrested on Lawrence County Theft Warrant

Bedford – (Lawrence County) An arrest has been made after the launch of an investigation late last September at the request of the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office. Indianapolis Attorney Kenneth Shane Service, 43 of Indianapolis was arrested yesterday by Indiana State Police Detectives and charged with Theft, a Level 5 Felony.

He was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is waiting to be transported to Lawrence County.

The initial investigation was launched in Lawrence County when PNC Bank filed complaints with the Department of Adult Protective Services and the Prosecutor’s Office. Those complaints alleged that Kenneth Service was acting as a Trust Fund Trustee and that large amounts of fraudulent loss had appeared in Trust Fund bank accounts that were under his management.

The actual owners of the Trust Fund accounts were not aware of the theft until notified by Detective Stacy Brown.

The Lawrence Superior I Court found probable cause existed for the issuance of an arrest warrant for Kenneth Shane Service after Detective Stacy Brown's investigation revealed that Service was writing checks payable to himself, using debit cards to withdraw large sums of money and purchasing personal items and services, all without the approval of the Trust Fund Account owners. Those items included a car, casino trips and major dental surgery among others.

It is believed that Kenneth Service had access to several other Trust Fund accounts throughout Indiana, West Virginia and Florida.

If you know someone who has worked with Attorney Kenneth Service in the past, please contact Detective Stacy Brown at the Bloomington ISP Post at (812) 320-3023 or [email protected]
