Three Arrested After Refusing to Stop
New Castle – Two Cambridge City men, along with a 15 year old juvenile, were arrested last evening after refusing to stop for a traffic violation. Trooper Jacob Ridgway was headed out of New Castle south on Grand Ave., around 6:20 p.m. last evening, when he observed a car in front of him driving left of center around Grand Ave. and “I” St.
When he attempted stop the car it took off south bound out of town on Dublin Pike. At Dublin Pike and CR 600 E. the car drove out in a field east bound where it became stuck and the three occupants fled on foot.
A Henry County Sheriff’s Department Deputy and his K-9 were called in, along with six other troopers. Troopers and other officers set up a perimeter as the K-9 tracked the subjects to the 3600 block of Wilbur Wright Road, where they were taken into custody. Arrested was the driver, Dalton Taylor, age 19 of Cambridge City.
Taylor was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle, Level 6 Felony, and misdemeanor Criminal Recklessness, Resisting Law Enforcement Fleeing, Reckless Driving and Operator Never Licensed.
His passenger, Michael D. Hickmott, age 42 of Cambridge City, was charged with misdemeanor Resisting Law Enforcement, Fleeing. He and Taylor were both lodged in the Henry County Jail. A 15 year old male that had been a passenger in the car was also arrested and released to his parents.
Trooper Ridgway was assisted by Troopers Earnest Paige, Sam Cook, Justin Beamon, Blake Stephenson, Brian Rumple and J.T. Burns, along with the New Castle Police Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
